copy one octave above withou paste them

In reaper piano roll i draw some notes and want to make make note one octave above those chose same chords so for that i have to copy them and paste then move them so it's a long process i want shortcut to copy and paste one ocate or on whichever pitch i want to copy

  • Hold Ctrl (Windows) / Cmd (Mac) while dragging with the mouse → it copies notes. Then press the octave shortcut (Shift + Ctrl + ↑).

2. Even faster workflow (custom action)

If you want a single shortcut to copy selected notes and place them one octave higher in one step:

  • Open Actions list in MIDI editor.

  • Search for:

    • Edit: Copy notes

    • Edit: Paste notes

    • Edit: Transpose: Octave up

  • Chain them into a Custom Action.

  • Assign it to a key (say Alt+Shift+↑).

Now, one press = duplicate notes an octave up automatically. 🎹

3. For arbitrary pitch shift (not just octave)

Use:

  • Ctrl + ↑/↓ → semitone steps.

  • Or Shift + 9 (NumPad) → opens Transpose dialog, where you can type “+5” (perfect fourth), “+12” (octave), etc. You can also choose Copy vs Move inside that dialog.
