when i drag and drop image in reaper it comes on a track in a small item or two bar item which i have to stretch to make it moveable left right but i want atleast it should be one bar long so easily i can arrange it
Nice catch 👍 Reaper treats images like any other “media item” (similar to audio), so when you drag & drop an image, it imports it as a very short item (sometimes just a couple of beats long). That’s why you have to stretch it each time before arranging.
You can fix this with a setting so that every dropped image has a default length (like 1 bar or more).
🔹 How to set default image length in Reaper
-
Go to Options > Preferences (Ctrl+P)
-
On the left, go to Media > Video/Import/Misc
-
Find the option:
-
“New still image length” (this is the default length for imported images)
-
-
Set it to 1 measure (or 4 beats) instead of the tiny fraction.
-
Click Apply / OK.
🔹 Now what happens
-
Any image you drag into the timeline will come in as a 1-bar item (or whatever length you set).
-
You can still stretch it longer if needed, but you won’t need to resize every single time.
👉 This works not just for images but also for “new empty items” in some workflows.
Do you want me to also show you how to make Reaper snap images to grid automatically while arranging (like FL Studio playlist style)?
